The Westminster Commission for Road Air Quality (WCRAQ), chaired by Barry Sheerman, Social Entrepreneur and Sustainability Advocate, is a social enterprise aiming to improve air quality using evidence-based research to shape policy and improve legislation.
It aims to advise and inform members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords on-road air pollution and its effects and potential solutions to improve air quality policy in the UK. WCRAQ brings air quality professionals and legislators together to identify research-based solutions to air quality problems. These answers should also consider cost, effectiveness, achievability and acceptability.
The Commission comprises six working parties headed by leading experts in their respective fields.
- Air Quality Monitoring – Chair: Ralph Wilce, Wijs Air
- Air Health – Chair: Professor Stephen Holgate, Southampton University
- Planning & Infrastructure – Professor Peter Roberts, Emeritus Spatial Development at the University Of Leeds
- Fuels and Vehicles – Chair: Jason Airey, MD, CMS SupaTrak
- Education – Larissa Lockwood, Director of Clean Air, Global Action Plan
- Policy Working Group – Barry Sheerman
The Commission invites scientists, charities, air quality professionals, transport operations and consultancies and other qualified individuals to become part of this new initiative.
