Dennis Eagle unveils all-new Olympus Midi, 12-16 tonne refuse collection vehicle

Dennis Eagle has unveiled the Olympus Midi, a highly versatile and compact refuse collection vehicle (RCV) set to redefine the 12-16 tonne category.

Packed with industry-leading features synonymous with Dennis Eagle’s Olympus body range and typically mounted on a compact chassis, the Midi meets the growing demand for smaller RCVs with high payloads. Dennis Eagle offers the 2025 Olympus Midi in three variants with capacities of 9.8 m³ (OL-MIDI 10), 10.8 m³ (OL-MIDI 11) and 11.8 m³ (OL-MIDI 12). Thanks to its wheelbase starting at just 3.25m (OL-MIDI 10) and width of 2,350mm (DAF variant), the Olympus Midi offers outstanding manoeuvrability and a tight turning circle, making it ideal for navigating congested streets or rural lanes.

Seamless integration

Designed to be fitted on the most common 12 to 16-tonne GVW chassis in the marketplace, its engineers have worked with chassis providers to ensure seamless integration and provide optimum packaging and efficiency of the vehicle and body. The Midi can be built on various chassis, including DAF and Renault, alongside other providers.

 Body beautiful

The Midi’s designers opted for a sleek, contemporary body design, ensuring user-friendly and robust features that enhance operational efficiency. As a member of the Olympus body family, the Midi incorporates many of the features that have made the range the number one choice in the refuse collection market. Produced from hard-wearing materials, including Hardox 400, it is robust and corrosion-resistant. Design elements, such as the class-leading short rear overhang, have reduced weight and contributed to maximising the payload capacity, which is unrivalled in the vehicle segment.

Other features include a compactor speed of 17 seconds and the widest tailgate hopper in its class. The Midi has Olympus’s standard features, including optimising ejector plate retention for handling multiple waste types efficiently. Built tough, it is equipped with heavy-duty connectors and wiring for ultimate durability in harsh weather conditions.

A true family member

As part of the Olympus family, the Midi comes with a configurable HMI display, enabling operators to efficiently manage key functions such as bin lifter movements, integration of body weighing systems, diagnostics, rear camera integration and access to the Terberg Connect telematics and remote diagnostics system. For streamlined fleet maintenance, the Midi shares standard electrical components with the Olympus and Twin Pack models, including cabin terminal, harnessing, encoders, switches and control panels.

 Versatile bin-lifting options

Operators can choose from multiple bin-lifting configurations, including an integrated multifunction bin lift—ideal for 2- and 4-wheel waste collections—or a Terberg OmniDEL or OmniDEKA automatic bin lift. An open-back configuration is also available. The integrated lift’s lifting capacity is another area where the Midi excels, delivering a maximum lifting capacity of 500kg as a standard.

Efficiency

Dennis Eagle has focused on maximising operational efficiency in every aspect of the Olympus Midi. Single-person operation is available where required, and its pack-on-the-move technology allows packing cycles to be completed while in transit, saving valuable time. Maintenance engineers can save additional time with just two lubrication points for the body.

Safety as standard

As with all Dennis Eagle products, safety is a priority. When fitted to the customer-specified chassis, the Olympus Midi features intuitive safety systems based on the company’s unrivalled knowledge of waste management operations. Fully compliant with EN-1501 and CE-approved, the Olympus Midi continues Dennis Eagle’s commitment to providing market-leading safe refuse collection vehicles. Ergonomically designed to ensure a comfortable and safe working environment, it features new LED lighting to ensure operators and the RCV are always clearly visible.

‘Dennis Eagle’s Olympus Midi continues the brand’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and efficiency in waste collection,’ says Dennis Eagle’s Sales and Marketing manager, Lee Rowland. ‘With its compact size, advanced technology and industry-leading durability, the Olympus Midi is a welcome addition to our family.’
