Ontime Automotive reveals European expansion plans with the opening of a new facility in Germany

The international vehicle logistics company has announced the formation of Ontime Automotive Germany GmbH. Opening its first premises in Bergheim, near Cologne, marks a decision to extend its presence and further develop services in mainland Europe.

Centrally located, the facility expands network opportunities with local access to major European roadways and motorways. It is close to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, the largest in Europe for vehicle transhipments, with over three million new vehicles a year.

Initial operations at the multifunctional site will provide covered storage and technical support, mirroring the activities of Ontime’s Technical Services division in Chelmsford, UK.

Supporting some of the industry’s leading German OEMs and high-net-worth individuals with vehicle movements throughout Europe and across the globe, Ontime plans to strengthen key relationships and continue to invest in its European customer support and services.

Ontime Automotive’s Managing Director, Justin Brinklow, announced: ‘As a logistics partner to several manufacturers and automotive groups in Germany, our intention has always been to establish a base here.

‘With recent updates to EU regulations and Germany’s lead in producing more vehicles than any other European country, it’s commercially the right time for us.’

He added: ‘We envisage the facility will become integral for existing clients and those who choose Ontime in the future.’

Further investment, planned for Q1 of 2025, will see the arrival of Ontime’s first German-based transporters on the road. They will become additions to the fully owned and operated fleet, taking the number of covered transporters within the group to over 90.

Group headquarters will remain in the UK, supported by French facilities in Calais and the new Bergheim facility.
