CTS Hire invests £6m in new vehicle stock

Municipal vehicle rental company CTS Hire has announced a £6m investment in 30 new vehicles as part of its continuous fleet replacement programme and to meet rising market demand.

The new fleet includes 18 dedicated food waste collection vehicles in response to new commercial food waste collection regulations and in anticipation of mandatory household food waste collections from March 2026. The remaining vehicles comprise a combination of Twin Pack and Rear Steer Narrow 26-tonne Refuse Collection Vehicles.

Bob Sweetland, Managing Director, CTS Hire, commented: ‘We are committed to continually refreshing our fleet to ensure our vehicles meet the latest regulatory requirements and to reflect the ongoing changes in legislation regarding how waste is collected.

‘The introduction of separate food waste collections means that many councils and fleet operators must invest in specialist vehicles and containers, new tools and diagnostic equipment, and workshop staff to maintain the vehicles. Hiring these specialist vehicles, especially during the transitional period, allows fleet operators to try these different technologies before they buy and monitor the efficiency of collections.’

A well-established supplier of municipal and specialist vehicles, with a fleet of more than 200 vehicles available for short – to long-term hire, CTS Hire works with local authorities and private companies in the waste management, recycling, and highways sectors.
