Renault Trucks at RWM Expo 2024: underscores commitment to sector decarbonisation

Underscoring its commitment to accelerate the decarbonisation of waste and recycling transport, Renault Trucks is returning to the Resource & Waste Management Expo (RWM) on 11- 12 September 2024 at the NEC with an all-electric lineup to meet net-zero targets and comply with Low-Emission Zones.

Visitors to the Renault Trucks stand will see a 26-tonne E-Tech D low-entry cab 6×2 electric refuse collection vehicle (eRCV). Built on a 3,900-wheelbase and mounted with a Dennis Eagle Olympus 21W body and Terberg OmniDEL Xtra Low-Level Split Automatic Bin Lift, the eRCV is equipped with solar panels to provide additional power support for intensive refuse collection operations.

Additionally, on stand, LR56 is a 26-tonne E-Tech D Wide 6×2 low-entry cab with air suspension front and rear, featuring a bus-style folding door, low step height and kneel function for ease of entry and exit, reducing strain and fatigue for crews on demanding multi-stop urban cycles.

Both vehicles are configured for one driver and three operatives, featuring easy cross-cab access and ample onboard storage space. They are powered by Renault Trucks’ latest 375 kWh E-Tech traction batteries, four battery packs of 94 kW each located in the wheelbase, and twin motors delivering 260 kW continuous and 370 kW peak power, with 850 Nm torque.

Also featured on the Renault Trucks stand is an E-Tech T 4×2 tractor unit. Designed to meet customers’ needs for productivity and performance, the E-Tech T runs on three E-Tech motors, with six 90 kWh battery packs to deliver 540 kWh of power. The E-Tech T offers a range of up to 300km on a full charge and up to 500km with an intermediate fast charge (250 kW) of an hour. Designed for driver comfort inside and out, the high-specced cab features a host of optional extras, including a 4-point air suspension with the ride-height control system and a heated Comfort driver’s seat and an ultimate leather steering wheel.

Renault Trucks will participate in the RWM expert speaker programme, underlining its commitment to the sector and its ambition to work more closely with local authorities. Grahame Neagus, Head of LCV & Municipal at Renault Trucks UK & Ireland, will lead a bold, informative, and thought-provoking session, ‘The Time is Now’, on the Municipal Stage, 11 September, 11.30 – 12.00. This session will look at the immediate opportunities for operators in waste and recycling to start decarbonising their fleets today.

During the RWM show, Renault Trucks’ Energy Transition experts will be available to guide every aspect of the decarbonisation journey, from strategic planning and vehicle specifications to critical infrastructure and energy supply challenges.

Grahame Neagus said: ‘Renault Trucks is passionate about driving sustainability in the waste and recycling industry. We’re working with operators in both the private and public sectors and are eager to support more on their journey towards transport decarbonisation. RWM is a unique opportunity to strengthen existing partnerships, forge new connections, and showcase not only our wide range of electric vehicles that are available now and in operation today but also the expertise of our electromobility team as we work towards a cleaner, greener future.’
