East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service has upgraded its vehicle lifting capabilities by acquiring mobile column lifts from Stertil-Koni, a manufacturer of heavy-duty vehicle lifting solutions.
Serving East Sussex and Brighton and Hove City, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service is dedicated to responding to emergencies and working proactively with communities to prevent them. To ensure its fleet is always in optimal condition and ready to respond quickly and effectively, the service recently enhanced its workshop with a second set of Stertil-Koni’s ST1075FWA wireless column lifts, which include four individual columns.
The wireless design of these columns allows technicians to set up the lifts quickly without connecting cables, streamlining workflows and saving valuable time and effort. Additionally, the absence of wires on the floor reduces the risk of accidents in the workshop, contributing to a safer working environment for all personnel.
To complement the column lifts’ lifting capabilities, ESFRS also ordered a set of tall axle stands and medium-height axle stands. These stands allow the mobile columns to be removed for free wheel support or to act as additional support while the columns are still in place.
Each mobile column offers a lifting capacity of 7.5 tonnes, providing an overall safe lifting capacity of 30 tonnes for the set. The mobile columns incorporate Stertil-Koni’s revolutionary ebright Smart Control System, enabling workshop engineers to operate the columns individually, in pairs, or in any combination from any set column. The mobile columns’ positioning is also flexible, enabling them to be used in any configuration around a vehicle.
The ebright Smart Control System, with its full-colour touchscreen consoles, simplifies operation by providing maximum visual information about every lifting operation, all at the fingertips of the workshop engineers.
Powered by long-life deep cycle batteries, the Stertil-Koni ST1075FWA heavy-duty lifts deliver optimum performance for at least a week on average before recharging is necessary. Battery life is prolonged because power is only used to raise a vehicle, unlike screw lifts, resulting in less frequent recharging. Charging is carried out by plugging each lift into a 230v single-phase supply.
The Stertil-Koni ST1075FWA is supplied complete with adjustable-width forks. It is designed to lift vehicles with differing tyre widths and ensure maximum versatility.
