On 1 April 2021 Urbaser Ltd Commercial Services (ULCS) commenced its Zero to Landfill waste and recycling collection services for businesses across Gloucester and Cheltenham. All non-recyclable waste that is collected will be converted into renewable energy at the Javelin Park Energy from Waste facility.
Gary McKinnon, Commercial Business Manager, ULCS: ‘We welcome the opportunity to help local businesses in Gloucestershire reduce their carbon footprint and we are committed to providing a high standard of service. We have a wealth of experience in sustainable waste management and can help our commercial customers improve their environmental credentials. We plan to continue expanding our commercial waste and recycling service offering further towards Bristol and Birmingham.’
The new commercial waste services contract was acquired from Amey and ULCS will be taking over 450 existing business customer contracts in the area. To facilitate the new commercial service ULCS is investing in a new waste collection fleet equipped with in-cab PDA technology, 360° live camera systems and onboard weighing technology to improve the service and enhance customers’ experience.
Gary continued: ‘We will be using the latest waste management software – PurGo – with handheld tablets and digital payment systems to provide a quick, paperless system for businesses. This technology will also enable us to weigh each bin and introduce Pay by Weight services in the future. For ad-hoc clearances we offer a call-out service enabling customers to receive a quote, have their waste removed and pay on location by card, all on the same day.’
ULCS was launched in 2020 to provide the full range of trade waste and recycling collection services with a focus on providing closed-loop solutions and waste reduction strategies for its customers.
